Salamatou Arrested For killing her Two Children

A lady identified as Salamatou has been arrested for allegedly killing her two children in cold blood, cut their bodies and cooked them, Mowesplashmedia .

It was gathered that the children aged 2 years and 6 months old were said to have been missing for hours and this led to the search of them by the family members, Mowesplashmedia .

This caused the police to search the house of the woman, after which her husband discovered a pot and a bucket that contained the prepared children. Police say they are currently investigating the incident, after which Salamatou will be charged to court.

According to reports Gathered By Mowesplashmedia , The unfortunate incident occurred on Monday, September 14, 2020, at around 11 a.m. local time in Badjengo — commune of Pitoa — Department of Bénoué.

Three feared dead as fuel tanker explodes in Lokoja

Three persons were feared dead after a fuel tanker suffered brake failure in Felele area of Lokoja , Kogi State .
An eyewitness , Sunday Patrick said that the incident happened on Monday around 8. 00 a . m. He said that the tanker suffered a brake failure and hit some vehicles and a motorcyclist .

Police “brutally” shot dead four persons in Bamenda

At least some four persons including two suspected Amba boys are reported to have been shot dead along the motorway linking Mile 8 (Ngomgham) and Mile 7 (Ntankah) Tuesday in Bamenda, North West region.
Soldiers are said to have stormed the area Tuesday morning, firing gunshots for several hours.
“The military was still there till later this afternoon, it was a long day and we had to stay indoors,” said a source in the area.
Our source who opted to keep his identity secret, said all those killed were not Ambazonian fighters. “
“…Those boys are no Amba. I personally know them…This area has never been attacked so that’s why am sure people were outside when there is ghost town,” our source added.

This view is, however, contradicted by another source who said Amba camps are located around the area, and have been terrorising the local population.
“They boys always do control there…one of the is called, Amber popularly known as Boyka at Ngomgham…,” she added.
Government forces have not commented on the latest killings, but, Cameroon’s Army Chief of Staff, Major General René Claude Meka, in and outing earlier this month said the army will do all it can, to “restore order” in the troubled regions.
While MMI is unable to confirm which of the above position is true, one thing is certain, four young men have lost their lives in a conflict that seems unabating.

BREAKING: I’m Disappointed In INEC –Obaseki

Obaseki while speaking with journalists after casting his vote at Polling Unit 19, Ward 4, Oredo Local Government Area, said he stayed for over one and half hour on the queue because the card reader was slow.
Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Saturday expressed disappointment over the conduct of the ongoing governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state.

The governor said he expected better planning by the electoral commission.
“I expected that INEC would have prepared better for this election. I waited for one and half hour on the queue before exercising my franchise, it’s a bit disappointing.
“Giving that this is a sole day election, I expected better planning for this election. Card readers were very slow and that’s the situation everywhere.”

Popular Actor Jimon Aliu Died At 86

Popular Nollywood veteran actor, Jimoh Aliu, is dead.

Aliu died at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital on Thursday, aged 86.

According to his close associate, the body of the deceased would be moved to his residence at Adebayo area in Ado-Ekiti before being taken to his hometown, Okemesi Ekiti in Ekiti West Local Government Area of the state, where he would be buried on Friday.

Aliu was producing the first of his five-movies project, Olowo Ite, before his demise. The movies were expected to feature top Nollywood actors.

Born in Okemesi-Ekiti, the deceased began acting in 1959 after joining Akin Ogungbe Theatre Group and left in 1966 to form his own troupe, Jimoh Aliu Concert Party, in Ikare, Ondo State.

He had produced and featured in various Yoruba movies, the most popular being ‘Yanpan Yarin’ and ‘Fopomoyo’.

He was a former President of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Practitioners (ANTP).




He was born on 11 November 1939 at Okemesi , a city in Ekiti State southwestern Nigeria .
His father, Aliu Fakoya, was an Ifa priest who hailed from Oke-Imesi while his mother hailed from Iloro-Ekiti. [2][3]
Career
Aliu began acting in 1959 when Akin Ogungbe , a Nigerian veteran dramatist visited his hometown, the same year he joined the Akin Ogungbe theatre group where he gained some experience in drama. [4] In 1966, after he spent seven years with the Ogungbe troupe, he established "Jimoh Aliu Concert Party", a group based in Ikare in Ondo State southwestern
Nigeria . [5]
He later joined the Nigerian Army in 1967 but retired in 1975 with the aim of focusing on drama as well as promoting independent artists under the platform of Jimoh Aliu cultural group. [6] He had produced several television drama series such as Iku Jare Eda Yanpan yanrin and Fopomoyo that featured king Sunny Ade . [7][8]
Death
Aliu died at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado-Ekiti on 17 September 2020 after a brief illness. He was 80 years old. [9]

Lagos announces resumption time table for public and private schools

The Lagos State Government on Sunday, September 13, 2020, announced the resumption time table for schools in the state.
In the announced dates, students in Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS3), and Senior Secondary School 2 (SSS2) in public schools will resume on September 21, 2020.
All classes in the private secondary schools, and private primary schools are also expected to resume on September 21, 2020.

Corruption probe: NDDC claims to have spent N81.5 billion in 7 months

As the corruption allegation against the Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), rages on, the commission has claimed that it spent N81.5 billion within 7 months (October 2019 to May 2020) as against media reports that the money was spent within 6 months (January 2020 to July 2020).
The disclosure was made in a tweet post by the Niger Delta Development Commission on its official twitter handle on Sunday, July 19, 2020.The commission, while dismissing the media report as false, claims that according to the information from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the N81.5 billion was actually spent by the 2 Interim Management Committees of the NDDC between October 29, 2019, and May 31, 2020.

What new habit or skill did you acquire during lockdown? Learning to stay without loud music.

Vee
Victoria “Vee” Adeyele (23) is a musician based in Lagos, Nigeria. Vee, as she is affectionately known, was born and raised in London and moved to Lagos almost a year ago to begin her music career where she has already made great strides.
What new habit or skill did you acquire during lockdown? Definitely sleeping for hours on end.
What are your words to live by? Live every day like it is your last.
What is your biggest achievement? Performing at the Palmwine Music Festival last year.
Prince
Nelson Enwerem Prince (24) is an entrepreneur from Abia. A jack-of-all-trades whose portfolio includes modelling, fashion designing and interior decoration. He enjoys active sports and reading about ancient religions and African history. He’s a graduate of pure physics from the University of Calabar and is currently living in Lagos.
What new habit or skill did you acquire during lockdown? Trading forex.
What are your words to live by? A good name is better than riches.
What’s your biggest achievement? Winning Mr. Nigeria and competing in the Mr. World competition. It earned me great respect in my village and honour amongst the elders.
Lilo
Boluwatife “Lilo” Aderogba (23) is a dietitian from Lagos, Nigeria.
Lilo, as she prefers to be known, is also an entrepreneur and describes herself as “a product of God’s grace”.
What new habit or skill did you acquire during lockdown? I learnt how to sew.

Lucy Essien is a 30-year-old entrepreneur from Lagos. Though she is a self-proclaimed simple girl and assures everyone that she is far from average. She believes in fairy tales, and hopefully, Biggie’s House will deliver just that for her.
What new habit or skill did you acquire during lockdown? Making parfait, having tea three times a day, and being without my phone.
What are your words to live by? Life is for the living. We only live every day. Be a decent human being, you never know.
What’s your biggest achievement? My grill business, getting into Big Brother Naija, graduating with a 2.1 and not falling pregnant after all these years.
Trickytee
Timmy Sinclair is a 35-year-old creative artist and Lagos resident who hails from Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Tricky Tee as he is also known considers himself a storyteller who uses the mediums of film, and music to express himself.
What new habit or skill did you acquire during lockdown? I now do push ups every day thanks to lockdown.

Terseer Kiddwaya (27) is self-employed and comes from Benue State.

What are your words to live by? Never stop striving for the best life can offer, it can only get better.
What’s your biggest achievement? Winning Korean Pop World Festival Changwon in 2015.
Wathoni
Florence Wathoni Anyansi is a 29-year-old fashion entrepreneur This multi-talented single mother juggles a fashion business and a parenting blog. She is also bilingual and speaks and writes in Swahili fluently.
What new habit or skill did you acquire during lockdown? I started eating chocolates more than usual, praying with the rosary three to five times (no jokes), and a lot of thinking.

What is your biggest achievement? Providing for my son, being chosen to work in Julius Berger amongst graduates (I was an undergraduate then), giving birth naturally to a 4.3kg baby.

The Oyo State former Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, has been reported to have died on Thursday at a yet to be reviewed hospital after a brief illness in the country.
The former governor’s death was confirmed by a close source from the Oyo state Government and that Ajimobi has died about 35 minutes ago.
The news of his death has been passed across to the Oyo state House Assembly and the Speaker of the house is expected to officially announce the passing away of the former governor.

NATIONAL BROADCAST BY PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI ON DEMOCRACY DAY, JUNE 12TH 2020
Read the speech by the President below:
Fellow Nigerians,
1. The 2020 celebration of Democracy Day marks 21 years of uninterrupted civil administration in our dear country. This day provides us an opportunity to reflect on our journey as a nation, our achievements and struggles.
2. It is a day to honour our founding fathers who toiled to establish our republic and every Nigerian who has worked tirelessly to sustain it.
3. We are celebrating this year’s Democracy Day despite the COVID-19 pandemic which afflicts our nation and the whole world.
4. It is indeed a very difficult time for everyone especially those who have lost loved ones to the virus and those whose sources of livelihood have been severely constrained by the stringent measures we introduced at every level of government to contain the virus and save lives.
5. The dedication of our health and other essential services staff towards containing this virus is a testament of our courage and resilience as a people and as a great nation, and I use this opportunity to say thank you to all of you for your service to the nation.
6. Sustaining our democracy thus far has been a collective struggle, and I congratulate all Nigerians and particularly leaders of our democratic institutions on their resilience and determination to ensure that Nigeria remains a shining example of democracy.
7. In my 2019 Democracy Day address, I promised to frontally address the nation’s daunting challenges, especially insecurity, economy and corruption. I therefore find it necessary to give an account of my stewardship on this day.
8. We have recorded notable achievements in the course of implementing our nine priority objectives and are establishing a solid foundation for future success.
9. On the economic front, our objectives have remained to stabilize the macroeconomy, achieve agricultural and food security, ensure energy sufficiency in power and petroleum products, develop infrastructure, fight corruption and improve governance.
10. We have witnessed eleven quarters of consecutive GDP growth since exiting recession. The GDP grew from 1.91% in 2018 to 2.27% in 2019 but declined to 1.87% in the first quarter of 2020 as a result of the decline in global economic activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
11. Every single economy in the world has suffered a decline. Ours has been relatively moderate.
12. In order to stabilize the economy, the Monetary Authority took steps to build the external reserves which resulted in improved liquidity in the foreign exchange market. The external reserves grew from $33.42 billion on April 29th 2020 to about $36.00 billion in May, 2020 which is enough to finance seven months of import commitments.
13. Agriculture remains the key to our economic diversification strategy. The Presidential Fertilizer Initiative programme continues to deliver significant quantities of affordable and high-quality fertilizers to our farmers. This initiative has also revived 31 blending plants and created a significant number of direct and indirect jobs across the value chain.
14. Government is also revamping the cotton, textile and garment sector via a CBN Textile Revival Intervention Fund that would considerably reduce foreign exchange spent on cotton and other textile imports.
15. Through the food security initiative, we are promoting “Grow What We Eat” and “Eat What We Grow”. I am also delighted that more and more Nigerians are taking advantage of the opportunities in the agriculture and agri-business sector. I assure you that government will continue to support the Agriculture sector through the CBN Anchor Borrowers Programme and similar schemes.
16. To protect our farming investments, we have deployed 5,000 Agro-Rangers and employed 30,289 in our para-military agencies.
17. We are also integrating rural communities to the formal economy by extending access to credit and inputs to rural farmers and building feeder roads.
18. Our efforts on growing non-oil exports have started to yield some results. For instance, in the past year, our revenue from Cocoa and Sesame Seed increased by $79.4 million and $153 million.
19. Africa presents a huge opportunity for our export base diversification and we are developing our strategy to grow intra-Africa trade through the Africa Continental Free Trade Area Agreement.
20. Nigeria has risen by 25 places on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business ranking from 146th to 131st and is now rated as one of the top ten reforming countries.
21. This development is due to the Visa on Arrival policy, consistent promotion of initiatives that expand facilities available to Micro Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, robust electronic registration and payment system, seamless processing of business registration and reduction of cost of registering business by 50%. We are confident that on-going efforts would result in further improvement of this rating.
22. We remain committed to expanding our mining sector. To this end, I have directed the resuscitation of the Ajaokuta Steel Plant based on Government-to-Government financing and a Public-Private Sector financing.
23. With foreign and domestic investments and the participation of Small Scale Miners, we are harnessing the supply value chain in gold production.
24. We would also be launching a fully digitized mineral rights management platform for quick processing of mineral rights application, digitization of records and plugging revenue leakages.
25. The Power Sector remains very critical to meeting our industrial development aspirations and we are tackling the challenges that still exist in the delivery of power through different strategies.
26. We are executing some critical projects through the Transmission Rehabilitation and Expansion Programme including the:
a. Alaoji to Onitsha, Delta Power Station to Benin and Kaduna to Kano;
b. 330kv DC 62km line between Birnin Kebbi and Kamba;
c. Lagos/Ogun Transmission Infrastructure Project;
d. Abuja Transmission Ring Scheme; and
e. Northern Corridor Transmission Project.
27. Our agreement with Siemens will transmit and distribute a total of 11,000 Megawatts by 2023, to serve our electricity needs.
28. On transportation, another critical sector to improving our economic competitiveness, we are growing the stock and quality of our road, rail, air and water transport infrastructure.
29. Through the SUKUK-Funded Road Projects, a total of 412km of the targeted 643km road projects have been completed, representing 64%.
30. The Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund projects are also progressing very well. On the 2nd Niger Bridge, piling work has been completed and the approach roads are being constructed. 48% of work on this bridge has been achieved. We have constructed 102km of the 376km Abuja – Kaduna – Kano Road, representing 38%, and the 42.9km Obajana – Kabba Road is 87.03% complete.
31. Furthermore, the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency has completed routine maintenance on over 4,000km of federal roads out of the 5,000km targeted.
32. We are extending and upgrading our railway network too. We are introducing more locomotives, coaches and wagons for the Abuja-Kaduna Rail Line. The Central Ajaokuta – Itakpe – Warri Line has been completed and is being extended from Itakpe to Abuja on one end and from Warri Town to Warri Port on the other.
33. The Lagos-Ibadan Rail Line is 90% completed and would be extended to the Lagos Port which would help address the long-standing grid-lock at the Apapa port.
34. The Kano – Maradi Single Track Standard Gauge Railway, Coastal Railway Project and Port Harcourt – Maiduguri Standard Gauge Railway, with its associated branch lines running through the South Eastern and Gombe States, industrial park and Bonny Deep Sea Port are all ready for concessioning.
35. Government continues to make investments in the Aviation sector to position it as a travel and trade hub in West Africa and the wider African continent.
36. Airport Terminals in Abuja, Lagos, Kano and Port Harcourt are being expanded, while the rehabilitation of the Enugu Airport is almost completed. All our airports are being raised to international standards with the provision of necessary equipment, especially navigational aids, to guarantee world class safety standards.
37. For the first time in over ten years, Nigeria is conducting bidding process for 57 Marginal Oil Fields to increase revenue and increase the participation of Nigerian companies in oil and exploration and production business.
38. We continue to grow local content in other areas of the oil and gas sector with the disbursement of funds from the $200 million Nigerian Content Intervention Fund to indigenous manufacturers and service providers.
39. With sustained engagement of youths, opinion leaders and other stakeholders, we have restored peace in the Niger Delta Region and maintained our oil production levels.
40. The Head office of the Niger Delta Development Commission will be commissioned shortly. The Funding of sections I–IV of the East-West Road shall be pursued with a view to completing the project by the end of 2021.
41. Furthermore, I am determined to ensure that development meant for the people of the Niger Delta get to them so I have authorised a Forensic Audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission.
42. Digital Economy continues to play an important role in our development agenda as we move into the age of Artificial Intelligence.
43. Since the creation of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy has been launched. Steps have been taken to achieve a reduction of connectivity cluster gaps from 207 to 114 as well as increase the level of 4G coverage by 30%.
44. Nigeria remains committed to expanding access to quality education to enhance the productivity of its citizens and would continue to pursue the enforcement of free and compulsory basic education for the first 9 years of schooling.
45. In pursuit of this, we have launched the Better Education Service Delivery for All in 17 states, established additional 6 Federal Science and Technical Colleges and currently executing a pro-active Teacher Training Plan with all states of the Federation.
46. In our revision of the operations of specialized education funds and to implement reforms that would optimize their benefits to the sector, we have adopted a Public-Private Sector Partnership for provision of infrastructure and also collaborate with the private sector to create jobs.
47. Our pursuit of affordable housing for the low and middle-income earners has received a boost with the delivery of 1,200 housing units, provision of 520 service plots with infrastructure through a Public Private Sector partnership and the issuance of 868 mortgages totaling N7.7 Billion. Similarly, Home Renovation Loans totaling N16.2 Billion have been granted to 19,210 people.

SARS Apprehend Four Suspected Robbers In Mowe Ogun State

Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested four suspected members of a notorious
armed robbery gang.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi in Abeokuta, Monday, the suspects allegedly have been “terrorising Mowe/Ofada areas for quite sometimes and have been on wanted list of the Command.”
He said the suspects are: Sukanmi Tajudeen, Habeeb Oladimeji, Sunday Akintunde and Ishola Samson.
Oyeyemi disclosed that the suspects were arrested on Sunday, June 7, following an intelligence report received by men of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) about the hideout of the gang at Adesan area of Mowe.
“On getting the report, the officer in-charge of SARS, Tijani Muhammed dispatched his operatives to the area and the hideout was professionally cordoned off for an operation which lasted for about an hour.
“At the end of the operation, the four suspects were apprehended while some members of the gang escaped through the nearby bush”, Oyeyemi disclosed.
Items recovered from them are: one locally made triplet barrel pistol, one local made single barrel pistol, thirteen live cartridges and one Bajaj motorcycle.
The Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson who praised the gallantry displayed of his men has ordered a serious manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang.
Ebrimson also ordered a total clamp down on armed bandits across the state in order to give the good people of the state the needed rest of mind.
